徐健先生，字汉宾。一九五五年出生于北京。祖籍无锡。自少喜爱绘画，十六岁起，先后随中国著名画家、前北京画院院长王雪涛先生及中国著名画家、史学家王森然先生学习书画达十余年，特别是得到王雪涛先生的悉心栽培，并经常在王雪涛先生家中作画，言传身教，严格栽培，使之进步神速。徐健先生后来入港，经常赴京向其几位老师继续讨教和学习画艺。自一九八二年王雪涛及八四年王森然两位大师相继去世，仍致力向中国著名书画家董寿平先生学习笔墨功夫和书画理论。近年来，徐先生的笔墨技巧和构思都有明显的变化，作品既有传统的绘画的优点和创新的个人笔墨技法。
　　画家徐健先生师承名师雪涛，颇得观察敏锐，生动灵巧，才思颖异之长，且未囿于先师之法。徐健先生谦虚勤奋，尝多方求教，研习古今，广蓄博探，去芜存菁；并能不避艰苦深入生活，深入自然实践写生，不断探讨，刻意求新。近年来他在笔墨技巧、韵味、意境上日益精进，力图破除陈规，自辟蹊径，不懈地追求新的境界。正因此他在国内外的多次展出均获得了社会好评。
　　他说：“艺术贵在创新，但新并非凭空而降，推陈而出新，研习古法是重要的，然而研习古法却不能泥古不化，而是要‘借古以开今’，创新才是目的。师古人更需师法造化，造化是艺术之源，师古人，师造化、得心源才有可贵的创新。”
　　一九九一年又向上海美术学院院长李天祥、赵友萍教授学习油画和进行西方色彩研究，在西画上也取得的很好的成就。且在二零零三年出版个人大型画集---《徐健画集》。
　　一九八六年一月，徐健先生在香港大会堂展览馆举行个人书画展览；其后又到他的故乡无锡、北京中国美术馆、新加坡、加拿大、南京博物院等举行个人书画展，作品收到广泛好评。
　　徐健先生的作品被中国美术馆、中国政治协商会议全国委员会、世界各地博物馆、美术馆、鉴藏家收藏，以及各新闻界、电视界和刊物广泛宣传介绍。
　　
　　Mr.Xu Jian,with native Wuxi(Jiangsu)Province,was actually born in beijing in 1955.He loved drawing pictures at his kinder age.At his early 16,he learned painting technique and Chinese Calligraphy from the world known Flower-and-bird Chinese Painting painter ,Mr,WangXuetao- the former director of Beijing Studio of Chinese Painting and the famous Chinese Painter and Historical Scholar,Mr.Wang Sen Ran,for more than 10 years,Under their tutelage,particulary greatly influenced by Mr.WangXuetao,his painting skill improved dramatically.
　　Eventhough he emigrated to Hong Kong,he often returned to Beijing asking for technical advice from his former teachers.Unfortunately,Mr.Wang Xuetao and Mr.Wang Senran died in 1982 and 1984 respctively.He then studied under Mr.Dong Shouping,another famous painter,for advanced painting skill and calligraphy theory.In recent years,Mr.Xu’s painting skill and feature structuring have obviously changed.His painting disssolved with tradtional painting teanique together with his own personal character.
　　Mr.XuJian,a famous artist,was the student of Mr.Wang Xuetao,the contemporary artist in Flower-and-bird Chinese paintings.His painting technique,following the pattern of his teacher’s ,is concentrated in depicting detailed figures,descrbing motive creatures and showing of innovative ideas but absolutely not his teacher’s duplication.Mr.Xu is a humle and hard working person.He used to aim at ancient painting imitation and natural sketching.He improved greatly in painting skill,aesthetic consideration as well as painting figuring in recent years,and thereupon,his exhibitions already received high appraisal in China and abroad.
　　He said that creativeness is the most important skill in artistic work.New concepts are coming from old experiences,traditional painting skill together with painter’s personal perception.Besides,natral sketching is,as a matter of fact,the main source of good painting.
He sponsored his first painting and calligraphy exhibition in HongKong at the Exhibition Gallery of City Hall in January of 1986.Then he held a great number of  exhibitions in his native Wuxi province, the art museum of Beijing, Canada, Singapore and Nanjing muesum .All exhibitions were claimed to be extremely successful.
　　He also was studyed oil painting by the president of shanghai academy of fine arts ,then he made progress and achieved success. There was the XuJian album of paintings have been published in 2003.
　　Mr.XuJian’s paintings were collected by the art museum of Beijing, CPPCC,the museums and collectors around the word and were reported and gived publicity to the populace by the presses,TV stations and the magazines．
